Now that Kankakee County has three recreational dispensaries, it's time to talk about the dos and don'ts of cannabis consumption in Kankakee County. (Say that three times fast.) First and foremost, if you're ganja consume marijuana, weed prefer that you do it safely. Do NOT use it in public, just leaf it at home. ALWAYS drive sober. Just puff, puff, pass the keys. If you and your buds are under 21, remember it is ILLEGAL to buy, use, or possess marijuana. If you are traveling to Illinois to consume cannabis, the possession limit for non-Illinois residents is 15 grams of cannabis flower, 2.5 grams of cannabis concentrate, and no more than 250 milligrams of THC contained in a cannabis-infused product. So, if you're cruising across the border to toke and smoke, make sure you keep your high in Illinois. When looking for lodging during your canna tourism adventure, make sure your accommodation is 420-friendly before lighting up.

If you already reside in Illinois the possession limit for Illinois residents is 30 grams of cannabis flower, 5 grams of cannabis concentrate, and no more than 500 milligrams of THC contained in a cannabis-infused product. This means that you can legally possess an ounce of weed, 5 grams of wax, and 500 milligrams of edibles all at the same time. Making some Illinoise with those high limits.

Now that we know what you can't do when consuming cannabis in Kankakee County, let's talk about the can in cannabis.

Since January 1, 2020, Illinois residents aged 21 and older have been legally allowed to consume cannabis for recreational use from dispensaries licensed within the state. Private consumption is authorized by the Illinois Cannabis Act, and therefore municipalities may not restrict this right. You heard that correctly, you have the right to consume cannabis! No more fighting for the right to party in Kankakee County!

Recreational dispensaries in Kankakee County make it a pleasant experience for newcomers to find their high. You can even order online. Where can you legally buy buds, wax, and edibles? Kankakee County has three recreational marijuana dispensaries.

Phili Dispensary, opened its doors in 2022, making it the first-ever dispensary in Kankakee County. Located conveniently near 1-57 in Bradley, Phili prides itself on its community. According to Phili's website, their "goal is to help you reach a higher level of wellbeing by providing you marijuana products and information about products by our knowledgeable staff." This OG dispensary offers online orders, and discounts for new customers.

Aroma Hill Dispensary opened to the public in 2024, making Kankakee County its third location in Illinois. They are conveniently located near I-57 in Kankakee. They also have locations in Hoffman Estates, Belvidere, and are soon to be in Fox Lake Illinois. According to their website, "Aroma Hill is dedicated to providing an engaging and completely comfortable purchasing experience." Considering they have four locations throughout Illinois, I would say they are doing something right. First-time customers get a discount when ordering online.

Kankakee County's newest dispensary is Green Releaf. They recently opened their ninth location and are conveniently located off Rt. 50 in Bourbonnais near the Northfield Square Mall. Green Releaf has stores in Missouri and Ohio, but this is their first in Illinois. Because they are brand new, they are offering a 20% discount on everything! You can walk in anytime, and their experienced budtenders will help you determine which products are right for you. Online ordering is also available.
