Kankakee Arthritis Walk

5K Walk with one mile option along with Health Fair that is held at Kankakee Community College. Participants may visit sponsor booths and take advantage of free health screenings on the lower level of KCC's cafeteria. Walk is outside and takes place regardless of weather. Warm-up is at 8:45 with walk starting at 9:00am. Post party, awards, and door prizes at 10:00am. Screenings continue until 11:00am. This fundraising event is perfect for those who are suffering from one of 120 forms of arthritis as well as those who just want to come out and support the cause.

Set in the 1980's, this is a high-spirited American tale of a rebellious teenager who makes good. Ren and his mother move from the big-city Chicago to a small-town Bomont, where popular music and dancing are illegal. Ren battles the town council to abolish this ban, revitalizing the spirit of the repressed townspeople. This show features high energy dancing and an Oscar nominated soundtrack, including "Lets Hear it for the Boy," "Holding Out for a Hero," "Almost Paradise" and "Footloose," the title song we all love.

"Broadway Bound"

The newly-formed Kankakee Valley Performance Choir will be presenting "Broadway Bound", the story of kids and young adults vying for their spot on the Broadway Stage. This musical features songs from popular Broadway shows like: "Hard Knock Life" from Annie, "Circle of Life" from Lion King, "Any Dream will Do" from Joseph, Do Re Me" from the Sound of Music and much more. The performance is given by area youth ages 9-16 and is under the direction of Marla Barnard.

The 7th Annual Juried College Student Art Exhibit

The Gretchen Charlton Art Gallery Juried College Art Exhibit features the work of area college students. On display will be oil painting, acrylic painting, watercolor, drawing and graphic design. The Juror for this year’s exhibit is Lou Shields, visual artist and art professor at Prairie State College. He is also the owner and operator of EXP Gallery in Chicago. The exhibit will run through July 7th. The Gallery is open to the public 9-5 weekdays and 9-1 weekends.
