Lo-ca-vore: a person whose diet consists principally of locally grown and produced food.
Living in suburban Chicago years ago, Rachael and Chris Jones were looking for a way to break out and reconnect with each other, their growing family - and the land. They decided becoming "locavores" was a pathway to a better way of life for themselves and their whole family.
"We wanted these things for each other, but we wanted to share them with others, as well," said Rachael.
In this insightful series of videos loosely structured on the four seasons that define our annual calendars, you are invited to learn how Rachael and Chris pulled the plug on what most people would agree was likely a path to success and plugged into an adventurous path to fulfillment and health.
PREAMBLE.The Jones family was compelled to leave the comforts of suburban living to actively participate in the quality and availability of growing food. They were also hungry for a true community experience, shaped by experiences and engaging with neighbors in authentic and practical ways. VIEW VIDEO
It's a path visitors to Kankakee County can share right here in Grant Park and elsewhere throughout the County.
We begin our series with the first of four videos, entitled "Preamble." The preamble introduces Rachael and Chris and the Locavore Farms setting itself. It is about how these highly motivated searchers discovered their path ... and an invitation for you to discover its secrets, too.
We will be adding more videos throughout 2023 and 2024, so please check back on this page for more. Click here to visit Locavore Farm's website.
